In 2005, we traveled around the world, setting foot in 65 countries in 11 1/2 months. This site chronicles our journey.
On January 8, 2005, we left our home in Chicago, returning on December 22. This site contains our itinerary, logs of our thoughts and experiences, and photos along the way.
Who are we? At the beginning of 2005, Nick was 38, and in the middle of a two-year career break. In 2004, he visited every Major League Baseball stadium, dominated his fantasy baseball league, and became a worldwide travel-planning expert. Previously, he was chief financial officer of Inforte Corp. Deanna was 34 when the trip began, and was formerly a vice president of sales of financial products for Allstate. In 2004, she learned how to cope with a non-working, frequently absent spouse. In the end, she decided the only way to tolerate her husband was to adopt his lifestyle. We were married on June 5, 2004, so you can think of our trip as an extended honeymoon. |
